“There are many positive ways for business to make a difference in the lives of the poor – not through philanthropy but through initiatives that, over time, will help build new markets”
POPUP (People Upliftment Programme) is regularly supported by BIGEN AFRICA and its partners, such as the ABSA and others. POPUP is located in Salvokop Pretoria and provides skills development and training to unemployed people and its support services include healthcare, and the POP Kids crèche programme.
These projects benefit from generosity of BIGENites – beneficiaries include a vast variety of Charity Organisations in and around Gauteng.
Bigen Africa donates a large portion of its social development fund to community health issues with a special concern for helping society deal with the realities of HIV/AIDS. A donation for instance to the Epworth Children Home for HIV Aids orphans has brought welcome relief to the growing number of Aids orphans in this area. Bigen Africa also strives to educate employees on HIV/AIDS issues and encourage employees to determine their HIV/AIDS status to help reduce the infection rate and the impact it has on affected people.
